学生的思想素质是其他各方面素质的根本只有学生的思想素质得到良好的培养才能保证其他方面的素质得到发展和提高小学英语教材中蕴含着丰富的思想内容教师可以利用这些内容对学生进行思想政治教育和道德品质教育寓思想教育于听、说、读、写的英语教学活动中因此在英语教学中教师要注意“渗透”将思想教育渗透在英语教学中以达到“教书育人”的目的英语学科的基本特点是工具性和思想性英语是表情达意、交流思想的工具之一笔者在教学中就努力寻找教书育人的最佳结合点在“渗透”上下功夫例如四年级下册Ｍｏｄｕｌｅ７Ｕｎｉｔ１ＩｈｅｌｅｐｅｄＭｕｍ的教学课文情境是Ａｍｙ和远在英国的奶奶通了一个电话告诉奶奶自己昨天“ＩｈｅｌｅｐｅｄＭｕｍａｎｄＩｗａｓｈｅｄｃｌｏｔｈｅｓ.”这时笔者适时地教育学生在家里要帮助父母做力所能及的家务活第二单元的课文情境是Ａｍｙ向Ｓａｍ讲述自己昨天给奶奶打电话时奶奶告诉自己她和爷爷的活动Ａｍｙ和Ｓａｍ很关心爷爷奶奶的日常生活这时笔者鼓励学生多关心自己的爷爷奶奶、外公外婆同时也要多关心自己的父母教师通过一篇篇课文的学习在听说读写的学习活动中潜移默化地教育学生培养了学生健康、美好、高尚的情操激发了他们美好的情感学生的情操得到陶冶心灵得到净化从而培养了良好的思想素质

二、学生文化素质的培养

“师者所以传道、授业、解惑也”在英语教学中“传道”固然重要“授业”也非次要科学文化素质是人的素质全面发展的关键是人们从事学习和工作的基本条件培养和提高学生的文化素质需要教师充分发挥课堂教学主要渠道的作用

(一)激趣

使其乐学兴趣可以促进学生努力学习学生有兴趣才会乐于学学生乐于学才能提高学习效率陶行知先生认为学生有了兴趣就会用全部精力去做事学与乐是不可分的英语课堂教学要努力为学生营进一个良好的富有童趣的学习氛围并贯穿教学的始终尽可能做到“课开始兴趣生课中间兴趣浓课结束趣尚存”例如在阅读英语文章时学生会遇到自己不懂的词语于是笔者就教学生查字典开始时先讲查字典的好处(激趣)学生的兴趣来了笔者再讲查字典的方法用比赛的形式分小组查字典计个人得分小组总分看看哪个小组查得又快又准在查字典时学生兴趣盎然积极性相当高不停地翻动着字典最后计算小组得分“胜利”的小组兴高采烈“失败”的小组也不甘示弱他们纷纷提出“再来一次”的要求通过查英语字典比赛不但使学生通过自己的努力去读懂、理解一篇英语文章可以牢固地掌握查英语字典的方法连平时对查字典不感兴趣的学生也提高了兴趣掌握了方法提高了技能

(二)授法

让其会学正确的科学的学习方法是走向成功的道路是通向胜利的桥梁在英语教学中教师应该立足于教会学生掌握学习方法不仅要“学会”更重要的是“会学”苏霍姆林斯基说:“如果你所追求的只是那种表面的、显而易见的刺激以引起学生对学习和上课的兴趣那你永远也不能培养起学生对脑力劳动的真正的热爱你应该努力使学生自己发现兴趣的源泉”教会学生科学的学习方法是培养学生自学能力的基础对学生学习方法的指导是多方面的下面笔者将举例说明例如指导学生如何科学记英语单词小学生记英语单词的方法是死记硬背如记ｓｔｒｅｅｔ和ｓｕｐｅｒｍａｒｋｅｔ这两个单词时学生通常这样记:ｓ－ｔ－ｒ－ｅ－ｅ－ｔ、ｓ－ｕ－ｐ－ｅ－ｒ－ｍ－ａ－ｒ－ｋ－ｅ－ｔ一个字母一个字母地读翻来覆去地记但这种记法用时长记多的时候容易忘记笔者指导学生用另外一种方法记单词———按读音记单词法如:ｓｔｒｅｅｔ→ｓｔｒ发[ｓｔｒ]ｅｅ发[ｉ:]ｔ发[ｔ]ｓｔｒｅｅｔ[ｓｔｒｉ:ｔ]读得出来就写得出来了特别是ｓｕｐｅｒｍａｒｋｅｔ这么长的单词更应该按读音来记ｓｕ发[ｓｊｕ:]ｐｅｒ发[ｐ]ｍａｒ发[ｍɑ:]ｋｅｔ发[ｋｉｔ]ｓｕｐｅｒｍａｒｋｅｔ[ｓｊｕ:ｐｍɑ:ｋｉｔ]读得出来就写得出来了还不容易遗忘再如指导学生课前预习、课上学习和课后温习的方法首先是预习出示预习提纲让学生按照提纲预习读通课文了解大意并通过有目的地画词画句、圈点批注、找出疑难抓住重点等其次课堂上要求学生认真听课积极思考有重点地做好笔记特别注意自己的疑难之处等最后在课后教会学生如何认真温习及时消化完成作业等教师做好检查、督促、总结等工作久而久之学生良好的学习习惯便形成了学习方法便掌握了他们会运用已有的知识进行分析、比较、综合、判断、推理、想象等学生在理解知识的同时掌握了科学的学习方法尝到了成功的喜悦找到了兴趣的源泉学习积极性不断提高分析问题、解决问题的能力也逐步提高文化素质也会不断提高

三、学生心理素质的培养

培养学生良好的心理素质对学生形成良好的思想素质、文化素质、身体素质和劳动技能素质等都十分重要培养学生具有良好的心理素质就是培养他们有健康的心理、健全的人格开发他们的潜在智能小学生身上有很多优点也有不少弱点一些学生没有远大理想和进取精神缺乏正义感有的学生甚至依赖性较强、贪吃贪玩、胆小怕事、怕苦怕累、害怕困难等在英语教学中教师应针对学生的思想状况和心理状态适时教育激励他们以培养他们的非智力因素促使他们良好心理素质的形成例如在教Ｄｉｄｙｏｕｆａｌｌｏｆｆｙｏｕｒｂｉｋｅ?一课时笔者激励学生自觉锻炼意志不要让害怕征服自己而要用意志征服害怕的心理教“Ｓｈｅｉｓｒｅａｄｉｎｇａｂｏｏｋ”这一模块时笔者启发学生理解茨威格的话:“人类的一切工作如果值得去做而且要做得好就应全神贯注”进而教育学生做事要全神贯注在教Ｒｏｂｏｔｓｗｉｌｌｄｏｅｖｅｒｙｔｈｉｎｇ这一单元时笔者教育学生凡事都要多动脑筋想办法在学习上、生活上遇到困难时要主动想办法解决困难做学习、生活的主人不要一味地想着依赖父母依赖Ｒｏｂｏｔｓ总之英语教学是整体性的学生素质应是全面的英语教师要在英语教学的阵地上开展全方位、多角度的探索实施素质教育培养全面发展的一代新人
