Long Vacations or Short Vacations?

Long Vacations or Short Vacations?

Different people have different opinions about the length of vacations. In China, the short vacation usually last for three days which is not long enough for people to do the things they really want. And the long vacation is usually a week, which is called “the golden week”. Some people prefer short vacations, for they don’t know what to do when they don’t need to work. Others love long vacations better, for they can spend their precious time on different kinds of activities. As for me, I prefer long vacations for the following reasons.

First, long vacations provide people enough time to travel remote. We can go to Yunnan, Beijing, even Thailand on the long vacations. But short vacation can not do this, for the time is not enough. The days you spend on the roads will cost at least two days. The long vacations will solve this problem. Second, the long vacation is a perfect time for us to meet old friends from primary and high school. We haven’t seen each other for a while, it’s time that we can get together and have some fun. Third, we can do various activities on the long vacations. Such as barbecue, go to KTV, sleeping all day long without being disturb by phone calls. What’s more, I can reread lots of my favorite books on long vacations. Especially I still haven’t finish reading the series of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Long vacations are so good, I hope it will last. For me, it’s the most relaxing time for me to do the things I want and forget all about my problems. I think the government should arrange more long vacations for people.

Study or Job Hunting【推荐】

Nowadays, what worries college students most should bethe balance between job hunting and study. Have you noticed the phenomenon thatthe competition in job market is much fierce than before and the unemploymentrate of college students is of a high level, which is given rise to the reasonthat a growing number of graduates are pouring into society whereas jobopportunities are simply not enough for them.

Owing to the severe situation, enormous undergraduatesset about looking for a job long before their graduation. Some even begin whenthey enter college. However, each coin has two sides. The offenders hold theopinion that applying for a job can undoubtedly cut down undergraduates' studytime, considering that their main work is to learn academic knowledge as muchas possible. While supporters believe that applying for a job earlier cansecure a better job after graduation. On my personal perspective, opportunitiesfavor those who are well prepared. Both sparing no effort to study and applyingfor a job earlier can eventually serve to our better job in the future oncondition that we balance the two parts reasonably.

What's more, lots of factors are taken intoconsideration when recruiting new employees, work experience, degree, ability andso on, of which I think the most important is study. Although it cannot bejudged from the academic grades whether a person is of high ability, it is atleast a proof that one has a large scope of academic knowledge. Generallyspeaking, job hunting is not contradictory with study; in contrast, they cancoordinate with each other perfectly.

精彩文章友谊Friendship(收藏)

Friendship is essential for the existence of society. People live in communities and work in co-operation so that they could protect themselves from nature. The successful accomplishment of any task calls for support from many people. It’s the friends who are willing to help us. Friendship is a guarantee of harmonious efforts.

In the widest sense, all people are friends. People live in a common society, co-operating and helping each other directly or indirectly all the time. From this respective, anyone could be a friend of others to a certain degree. And it’s this kind of friendship that makes society harmonious though competition is universal.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Unfortunately, people are so complex in the modern society due to various reasons. Sometimes, we don’t really know who are our real friends. Adversity is the touchstone of friendship. That is to say, in hard times, it is easy for us to test whether the friendship is ture or not. No matter what happens, a true friend will never leave you alone and will always be with you.

Reading Selectively or Extensively?

Asit is known to us all, reading has a great impact on our whole life. As theresult, we are required to read as much as possible since we are children. However, some people will meet with the problem of whether they should readselectively or extensively. And people have different views towards this issue.

Forone thing, some people consider that we should read selectively because theymaintain that it’s impossible for us to read all kinds of books. Furthermore, there are some books doing harm to our psychological health, so we should avoidreading them. Finally, only in this way –reading selectively can we have moretime to appreciate the beauty of the great and famous books.

Foranother, other people argue that we should read extensively and get in touchwith various kinds of books about different fields so that we can increase ourknowledge and broaden our horizon. In addition, no subject is isolated fromothers and all of them are associated with each other.

Asfar as I am concerned, just as the saying goes, “read wide, and you will wiselywrite,” I am in favor of the latter. But at the same time, I advocate that weshould avoid reading those books are harmful to our health as much as possible.

Living in Campus or in a Rented Flat(收藏)

For many collegians, they are tending tolive in a rented flat when they are in university in order to have morepersonal space. This situation has attracted many people’s attention. Somepeople support the previous ideas for they are convincing that students areadults and they need privacy. Others hold that studentsshouldn'trent a flatbecause most collegians can’t support themselves economically. Well, for myopinion, I don’t think students should rent a flat when they are in college.

Firstly, Living in dormitory is safer thanliving in a rented flat. Comparing to the other community, college is arelatively safe place because people are not so complex in college than peopleoutside the college. So it is a better place for students to living on campusthan stay in a rented flat.

Secondly, stay in college can save money. As collegians, they don’t have jobs to support themselves, so they should tryto save money and stay in dormitory instead of spending money on renting aflat.

Thirdly, living on campus can save lots oftime to study. Students living in college don’t have to run back and forthbetween college and a rented apartment. Therefore, they can have more time tostudy.

From the above reasons, we can concludethat living on campus would be a priority to students for the benefits ofkeeping themselves safe, saving a big amount of money and time.

Chinahas a very long and brilliant history, whosepeople are so friendly and hospitable. But I am wondering why some people paysuch little attention to the environment and nature. In many places of thecountryside, rivers have become stinking sewers and brooks have disappeared.Heaps of garbage obstructs the scarce flow of dirty water. The grounds arelittered with plastic bottles and bags. People are cutting down trees eventhough it is illegal. In some towns, rubbish is hidden behind walls. Garbagecans are often of little use, making cleaners must rush all day long and alsoby night to clean the rubbish.

This lack of consideration for nature in general isextremely detrimental to children’s education, toChina’s image, to public health, totourism and to the future.Chinais the common treasure of all Chinese, and we should live up to be a member ofthis big family, a descendant of 5000-year-plus ancient civilized country. Ithink the environment must absolutely be strictly protected by all means. Thisprotection should go at the same pace as the marvelous development of thenation.

In this respect,Germanyis a rare model and leavesme a very deep impression. After you have an exciting tour around in thiscountry for a week or so, it is unnecessary for you to polish your leathershoes. Personally, first of all, the strong awareness of people’s environmentalprotection; then, the advanced technology applied in the field of preservingthe nature; We can learn form others in building China into one of the most environmentallyfriendly places in the world.

Attend Graduate School or Find a Job

It has always been a hot topic whethercollegians should go on study at a graduate school or just find a job when theygraduate. Some people think that students should broaden their knowledge circleand attend graduate school. Some hold that students should find a job to make aliving. In my point of view, I’m for the former for I think student should keepon study to get more knowledge.

To begin with, most students in collegejust have a comprehensive knowledge which is not professional, so they shouldkeep on studying to become an expert in certain field. If they go to find a jobafter graduate, they may do a bad performance in the job because of thepertinency of the job. Therefore, students should attend graduate school afterthey graduate.

Second, collegians can get a better paidjob in the future if they attend graduate school. Generally, there are too manyjob seekers with bachelor’s degree, so they are paid little when they find jobsat the first time. However, students with master’s degree are paid more thanthe bachelor’s degree when they find a job for the first time. Moreover, manycompanies prefer to hire students with a higher degree, so the master’s degreeholders will be the priority of recruiters compared with the bachelors.

In conclusion, when students graduate, itis good for them to attend graduate school in order to become more professionalin their area and get a better job in the future.

Think a minute! You've probably heard the expression “A leopard can’t change its spot.” Which, of course, is true of leopards. But is it true of people? Can people change? Are we human just creatures of habit? Do we not have any control over our actions and habits?

One guy said, “Bad habits are like a comfortable bed: they’re easy to get into, but hard to get out of.” Someone else said, “The chains of habits takes effort, yet one of the greatest freedoms in life is the freedom from bad habits.

Habits are like the roads we take through life everyday. The problem is not every road takes us where we need to go. Our routes through life become our ruts in life, which we end up stuck in and find it hard to dig ourselves out. That’s why we must change our bad habits as soon as possible before they become our “second nature”, because our habits become our character and our character becomes our life. As one wise person said, “First we make our habits, then our habits make us.”

But we humans don’t like to change, do we? So we come up with excuses, like: “I can’t be different, that’s just the way I am.” Or “I was born this way.” And the good old saying: “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” But that’s just it, we’re not dogs or animals. In fact, we’re the only creatures who have the freedom and power to change and choose the kind of person we want to become. So what habits do you need to start changing today?
