My second placement was at Virgin Media, where I worked with graphic designers and UX designers and was introduced to the field of digital design. I attended meetings where briefs were being discussed and was able to follow the journey of the graphic designers to witness how they went about delivering the brief; and helping design assets for the website. The placement allowed me to comprehend what digital design consisted of and learn about the works of alternative designers such as UX designers. My enthusiasm for Graphic Design made me want to expand my knowledge, hence I took a Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins. The course was completely different to my professional work placements. The course prohibited the use of computers and all artefacts were formulated from research trips and materials; making me realise the extent of graphic design. The manner in which I worked was refreshing from constantly collaborating with software. After the course I was able to understand that there are various methods of communicating which do not involve software. In my free time I self-teach myself Photoshop and Illustrator through tutorials. I also enjoy self-initiating briefs for myself, as well as briefs set by agencies such as D&AD, RSA and YCN which provide me with a creative challenge. For example I have ‘restyled street style’ for ASOS, which was a brief set by D&AD. I also voluntarily design logos for businesses, go to contemporary galleries, the Barbican Centre, research trips for my creative briefs and work on my briefs.

I also look forward to the annual London Design Week, where I have become educated about designers and new design processes and am able to draw inspiration upon. I have volunteered helping teach 6-9 year olds at my community art club, which I attended for 3 years. I have achieved the Bronze D of E, had a part time job for one year at a high end retail store and was part of my local netball club where I trained and competed. 1、预科

I believe these have taught me many transferable skills as well as providing me with a strong understanding of marketing principles. In Media Studies, I have learnt about marketing strategies used by key media industries and have developed my own marketing campaign to accompany my practical production of a film trailer/music video. In FIlm Studies I have learnt about a variety of marketing strategies used in the film industry from utilising digital technologies for viral campaigns to how marketing can help British film survive in the shadow of Hollywood to how marketing can be used to help create success for foreign films. I was very pleased to win a place on my school’s Media Academy programme. This has benefitted me greatly and led to some fantastic opportunities, including a six-week paid internship at Global Blue Inc which is a tourism shopping magazine company. I am currently studying four A Levels and all have provided me with valuable transferrable skills that will aid me in the world of Psychology. History involves high order debating and analysis skills which require me to think and make judgements independently. These tools enable me to look at cases from all perspectives and approaches. A large part of my Music course involves in-depth analysis of harmony and motific development, providing me both with mathematical skills and the ability to meticulously interrogate detail. This can be applied to all areas of your course, for example analysing the results of an experiment or evaluating the flaws in a set study. Performance Studies has given me the opportunity to develop strong interpersonal skills, as well as valuable experiences in group work, which combined with my studies in Music has further developed my creativity.

There are many things I enjoy outside of Psychology; the biggest of these is performing. I am currently working towards my Grade 8 Singing and at college I sing in the choir, Chamber choir and Rock choir. I am also the singer for a Jazz group at college, and outside of college I sing in a vocal group called 'Sapphire' formed with school friends. Last year I studied for and passed my Grade 5 theory and I also act, having played roles such as Nancy in 'Oliver' and Jan in 'Grease'.

At school I was a member of the school council for two years and was also voted prefect in year ten. In year eleven my fellow students voted to award me the 'Peer Cup' which I felt both humbled and touched to have won. I also like to raise money for charity whenever I can. Every year since 20xx I have designed and sold t-shirts at charitable music festival 'Helstonbury' which raises money for local causes. I also raised money for Cancer Research, Shelter and the NSPCC through a variety of activities such as carol singing, running a hot chocolate stall at my school, and this year running the Race for Life.
