I am a thinker, but not one to think out loud. I love myself, but am not in love with the sound of my own voice. I want to be loved, but not at the cost of not loving myself. I want to know everything, but realize that nothing can ever be known for sure. I believe that nothing is absolute, but I can absolutely defend my beliefs. I am aware that the law and economics cannot always be studied in conjunction, but I do not feel that either one can be properly studied without an awareness of the other. I recognize there is more to the law than efficiency, but believe the law should recognize the importance of efficiency more than it does. I love reading about law and philosophy, but not nearly as much as I love having a good conversation about the two. I know that logic makes an argument sound, but also know that passion makes an argument sound logical. I have philosophical beliefs informed by economics and economic beliefs informed by philosophy, but I have lost track of which beliefs came first. I know it was the egg though.

I always think very practically, but do not always like to think about the practical. I have wanted to be a scientist for a while now, but it took me two undergraduate years to figure out that being a scientist does not necessarily entail working in a laboratory. I play the saxophone almost every day, but feel most like an artist when deduction is my instrument. I spent one year at a college where I did not belong and two years taking classes irrelevant for my major, but I have no regrets about my undergraduate experience. I am incredibly passionate about my interests, but cannot imagine being interested in only one passion for an entire lifetime.

I love the Yankees, but do not hate the Red Sox. I love sports, but hate the accompanying anti-intellectual culture. I may read the newspaper starting from the back, but I always make my way to the front eventually. I am liberal on some issues and conservative on others, but reasonable about all of them. I will always be politically active, but will never be a political activist. I think everything through completely, but I am never through thinking about anything.

I can get along with almost anyone, but there are very few people without whom I could not get along. I am giving of my time, but not to the point of forgetting its value. I live for each moment, but not as much as I worry about the next. I consider ambition to be of the utmost importance, but realize that it is useless without the support of hard work. 1、法国硕士留学申请条件

1)学历要求

本科以上学历(或者3年专科毕业生+工作经验);

2)语言要求

选择法语授课专业申请者需要在国内接受至少500小时以上的法语培训, 选择英语授课专业申请者需要出具在有效期内的托福 (550以上)或者雅思(6.0以上)成绩。

3)温馨提醒

提早一年开始申请,学历文凭证书、大学成就单、推荐信都是非常重要的申请材料。

2、法国硕士留学申请时间规划

1)准备材料、学习法语(9月—12月)

9月可以着手准备申请所需要的各种材料,并开始学习法语。作为法语零基础的中国学生,学习法语至少要达到500小时左右,你才能有一个比较好的法语基础。

法国读研申请材料:护照、出生公证、大学毕业证公证、大学学位证公证(如有)、大学成绩单公证。这里特别提醒一下关于银行账户:因为申请法国留学需要提供最近6个月的银行流水,如果平时没有定期固定存款的或者账号存款不足的,提前准备好账号,期间不要有大笔的金额出入,每月分批存入。

2)申请学校(1月—3月)

法国大学每年开学两次,分别是1-2月和9-10月。因为法国各大学给中国的学生名额有限,所以国内学生提前开始学校申请工作,也就是说,9月左右申请第二年1、2月开学的课程,3月左右申请9、10月开学的课程。

3)获取offer (4月—5月)

已经提交申请的学生如果过被法国大学录取,那一般会在4月-5月收到学校的Offer。同时由于学校和签证要求,学生必须在国内参加500课时的法语培训,并参加由法国驻中国大使馆文化部主办的法语水平测试TEF或者TCF考试。

根据TEF和TCF考试时间的安排,2月、3月、7月、8月、9月是培训班开课的高峰期。培训一般需要3-4个月的时间。因此,有留法意向的学生应至少提前半年做好准备。

4)语言考试(最晚5月)

申请法国大学研究生课程,要求学生至少学习500学时的法语(全日制学习大约需要4个月),而且要通过法语水平测试。读预科需要达到B1水平,直录需达到B2-C1水平。另外面签时是使用法语的。另外需要注意的是,最晚要在5月获得B1的成绩。

打算第二年年秋季留学的同学,尽可能早地学习法语,准备时间越充足越好。万一成绩不理想,还可以重考。但是最迟在第二年6月初就要考。4、5月份就要汇考试费&选择考试时间。考试前需要注意报名费汇款时间。

5)签证面试阶段(6—8月)

收到法国大学录取通知书的学生,需要开始准备申请法国签证,流程是先是经过法国高等教育署的面签,然后再到签证中心递交签证材料。目前法国签证相对宽松,一般首次办理法国签证的都保持在80%以上,面签时需要特别注意语言和回答问题时候的表现。

法国留学大概费用解读

1、学费

(1)本科

法国公立大学,实行的是免费教育。注册费会根据自己所选的课程而定,每年为300欧元左右。而私立工科学校、商业或管理学校的学费则约为4000~15000欧元。

(2)研究生

法国研究生留学费用学费:法国的公立大学全免学费,只在每学年开始时收取约300欧元的注册费。法国的高等商学院一般是学费10万元人民币/年;艺术设计院校的学费是10万元人民币以内/年。

2、住宿费用

政府修建由大学管理机构管理的公立大学宿舍:费用低,条件较差,难以申请,尤其是语言生。每月120欧元左右,除去房屋补助后约75欧元/月左右(外省),(注:公立的大学生宿舍数量有限,通常情况下,自费留学生很难申请到;首都巴黎比外省消费水平高,尤其表现在房租方面)。

私人及企业修建的私立赢利性大学生宿舍:费用适中,可以申请房屋补助,补助后约150欧元/月,条件较好(外省)。

法国人家住宿及私房出租,可申请房屋补助,视房屋而定。

3、伙食费用

自己做饭费用大约75欧元/月,如果你每日有一餐在大学食堂用餐,费用稍高,大约115欧元/月。大学食堂由政府补助30%的学生餐费,70%由学生交付。一般一餐大约2.5欧左右。可以在公共住房自己做饭,具体费用视个人消费水平。

4、交通费用

25欧元/月(均价)。若买单张学生票,票价为0.8欧/张,可在一小时内多次使用。

5、医疗保险费用

Ever since I was mature enough to start figuring out plans for my future, Law was always an option. Whilst at school studying A Levels, I realised that Law was the only subject I will settle for and will do my absolute best to succeed in. Coming from a foreign country and learning to speak English was, even though enjoyable, a challenge but with time I was able to develop creative problem solving and present well thought out, rational arguments with more ease. Based on the research I have conducted over the past two years I have found out that Law is a smart choice as it provides skills that can be used in many different Careers, not necessarily in the legal world, although with time I have decided that I want to become a solicitor. In addition to that I know I would very much enjoy studying something that has a clearly identified set of rules as these rules are a giant step forward when solving disputes between parties.

I always aim as high as I realistically can and I always see room for improvement especially since I received an Arnold Foundation Scholarship to ___ School which to me was a great opportunity and I considered it a privilege. After joining the school, I have decided to capture and hold on to any opportunity that comes along. I keep up to date with current political, legal and business news. In my spare time I enjoy reading books most of which are politics, economics and history related. Some of my favourite authors include Harper Lee, Riccardo Orizio and Frank Partnoy. I also believe that studying Politics and Economics at A Level provided me with skills and knowledge that could help when studying Law for example, information about political institutions such as the UK Parliament, European Court of Justice and European Court of Human Rights. In addition, I believe that the Extended Project that I have completed as an addition to my A Levels helped me develop crucial research and writing skills.

As to my professional life, ever since I was 14 years old, I have had summer and part-time jobs but the most rewarding work experience for me happened earlier this year. I had the chance to complete two internships at Allen & Overy LLP, an elite corporate law firm. The first internship was a one week placement in A&O’s London office and the second one was a one month placement at A&O Warsaw, Poland. This opportunity has provided me with more experience and information about Law than anything else I have previously done and I certainly made sure to make the most of it. I had the chance to work with some of A&O’s Senior Associates and Partners in both offices. I reviewed some of the firm’s previous cases including the takeover of Abbey by Banco Santander and found them to be very interesting. I also did plenty of research and, in particular, in the Warsaw office I verified many Polish-English translations of legal documents. I truly believe that my time at Allen & Overy was an absolutely tremendous experience.

I am currently working at a London restaurant as part of my gap year to earn money for next year’s university fees. I am also re-taking both of my A2 ICT modules in January to improve my grades and partly for personal satisfaction. Next year I am hoping to get involved with volunteer work in Africa providing assistance at orphanages, although this depends on my financial status at the time.

Back at school I was heavily involved in many musical, sporting, academic and social events. I took part in plenty of musical concerts ranging from rock to classical music. In terms of sports, I was a member of various school and house teams as well as participating in other individual sporting events. I was also a house prefect in my final year at school. These and other out of school activities have provided me with very valuable team-working skills and have created another life for me, outside of academia.

一、材料方面

Born in _ to parents who valued education above everything else, I consistently excelled my classmates in primary and high school. My father, a senior engineer of a huge manufacturing company, would not accept any second best performance in my studies, and I never disappointed him. One way for me to stay the top student was to pursue a wide variety of interests that helped to keep me physically strong and intellectually sharp. An acclaimed football player, I led my high school’s football team as its captain into winning the city’s football championship. I also enjoyed literature, music and traveling.

As the best student of my high school, I was well prepared in 1991 when I took the National University Entrance Examinations, held nationwide once every year to screen high school graduates for higher education. Of the 100,000 high school graduates who took the exams that year in my province, I ranked the fourth in overall scores. On the strength of these scores, I gained acceptance into the Finance & Accounting Department of the Beijing University, which President Clinton described as the Harvard of China on his recent trip to this country.

At the Beijing University, the country’s best institution of higher learning, I continued to be the best student of the class. The university’s business school, to which the Finance & Accounting Department belongs, emphasizes, English and computers. I did well in all of them. In the final exams, I got the full grade for calculus, and the highest grade in my class in statistics, liner algebra, microeconomics, finance, banking and econometrics. My average grade was 90 on the 1 to 100 scale, making me the undisputed academic leader among my fellow students.

I began to have significant academic publications while I was still an undergraduate student, something highly unusual in China. Taking advantage of the university’s well cultivated atmosphere of academic freedom, I undertook extensive research on top of my regular course load, which culminated in the publication of a book, titled “Out of Dilemma”. As the principal author of the book, I made sure that the book presented an insightful study of the Western business management methods, especially those proven effective in the experience of the Fortune 500 corporations. The book was unique at the time in that detailed case studies were presented on a number of well-known Chinese companies against the Western business management approaches introduced in the book.

I was also the only undergraduate in my department who published a research paper in an academic journal. In the “The investment risk and its measurement”, published in the January 1996issue of Chinese Technology and Economy Science, I presented a mathematical model I myself have developed on the measurement of market risks. Although the model has yet to be proven in empirical research, it has received positive review among Chinese economists. It should serve as an advanced starting point for me to conduct further studies and research.

With an impeccable academic record and virtually unprecedented publications, I received many awards and honors, including the Outstanding Student Honor in October 1992, the Guanghua Scholarship in 1994, and the Outstanding Student Honor in 1996. In recognition of my achievements, the Business School of the Beijing University offered in 1996 to accept me for graduate studies without the normally mandatory examinations, a privilege that is granted to only what the university considers the exceptionally gifted.

I, however, declined the offer by my alma mater. Instead, I joined the Chinese Da Chuan (Group) Company, one of the world’s biggest shipping companies, to work with its Planning & Financial Division at its headquarters in Beijing. I wanted to apply what I had learned both in class and outside of it to analysis of real business operations before I commenced my graduate studies.

That has since proved to be the right decision. Working with the Chinese Da Chuan Company, with its 117 branches around the world, gave me a vantage point from which I easily and regularly observe all sorts of financial activities, such as the capital flow, the investment, the making of accounting statements, the cost control, and the innovation in accounting computer systems. This has not only enriched my knowledge of finance and given me clear perception into the company itself but also provided me with the necessary empirical data for more advanced studies in general.

While with the Chinese Da Chuan Company, I saw first hand just how big the differences are between the accounting practices in China and those in the developed world. To summarize my observations, I published a paper titled “The Comparison between Foreign Accounting Information System and Domestic Accounting Information System” in the respected journal of Finance and Accounting for Communications. On the basis of these observations, I began to appreciate China’s critical need to learn the more sophisticated accounting practices from the West. In accounting as in so many other areas, China must bridge the gap with the West if it is to survive and develop in the develop in the ever shrinking global village.

Two years has passed since I first started at the Chinese Da Chuan Company, and I now feel that it is essential that I receive further and more advanced training in a quality Western university. Hence my application for acceptance into your university.

For instance, though education via the internet has achieved considerable development in past two years, in practical operation such education has more often than not deteriorated into an extended form of the conventional examination-oriented education instead of a really interactive process. In my personal experience, despite the fact that some of the problems that I have encountered in my teaching career can be solved by consulting relevant technical literature, I have found that the more serious flaws inherent in China's current educational system cannot be worked out easily. Under such circumstances, an advanced program in education becomes necessary.

In this age of information, traditional education, both in its ideology and methodology, has met unprecedented challenge like many other aspects of human existence. Meanwhile, the pursuit for higher levels of educational development and of the quality of life has largely transformed the educational value orientation of the general public. The educational model that is centered around the cognitive and intellectual instruction has been seriously questioned. Greater attention has been devoted to the cultivation of well-developed personality and to the ontological status of the individual in education. Such issues as the internal studies of education science, scientific decision-making in education, and meta-education have also been increasingly emphasized upon. There have also been innovations in educational research methodology. The tendency has been to combine modern technology with humanistic research categories and with naturalistic research categories, and to organically integrate qualitative descriptions with quantitative descriptions. It is also important to carry out educational experimentations in which educational predictions are complemented by educational feedbacks. Both the complexity of education and the complexity of human individuals have made the comprehensive application of diverse educational approaches necessary. Those new horizons are what fascinate me.

In view of the following qualifications that I have acquired, I believe that I will acquit myself satisfactorily in the prospective Ph.D. program in education that I am currently endeavoring to apply for. First and foremost, as is often claimed, one's interest is one's best director. I believe that I will do well what I am really interested in doing. Secondly, though I majored in economics as an undergraduate, my trainings during that stage helped develop effective modes of thinking and research approaches. My application for Instructional Technology is motivated by my strong interest in the application of modern science and technology, especially the information technology represented by the Internet, in the field of education and in the nature of a series of revolutionary changes resulting thereof. Instructional Technology is a new discipline that has emerged as a result of the rapid development of modern communication technology since the late 20th century. It has tremendous potential for development and commercial application. As for my motive in selecting Educational Psychology as another possible area of specialization in my degree program, it is my long-cherished interest that primarily counts. In Instructional Technology, I would like to focus on the following studies: how to improve educational efficiency by applying research results from natural sciences and engineering technology; how to explore the combination and coordination of pedagogical contents and to improve teaching methodology by exploiting the theoretical findings from psychology and educational science concerning the process of teaching and learning. In Educational Psychology, I will concentrate on applied cognition and development, gifted and creative education, genetics and children development, personality structure and individual differences and other related subjects.

For me, to shift from economics to education and to pursue an advanced degree in the United States is not so much a challenge as an opportunity. At present, major reforms are being introduced into virtually every important aspect of Chinese society. The field of education especially calls for comprehensive reforms. 德国的硕士学位一般都是二年制,而且是授课制的硕士学位,不像国内是研究型的硕士学位。硕士期间主要任务是上课,修学分,最后有半年左右的时间去做毕业设计。由于很多德国高校要求比较严格,因此很多同学需要两年到三年才能毕业,甚至有四年的情况。

Shakespeare and Chaucer are, among others, writers I have had the good fortune to study at A-level. Through the plays 'Hamlet' and 'Antony and Cleopatra' and the Tales of the Franklin and Merchant, tragedy and the ideal of courtly romance, are key themes I have explored. I have, however, delighted in alternative interpretations, particularly of the Canterbury tales, making me especially excited about studying the critical theory component of an English degree. I am aware that the restrictions of the A-level syllabus have perhaps resulted in a narrow, monocultural examination of rich texts and I thus relish the chance that university will bring to broaden my literary horizons.

My complementary 'A' levels, History and Philosophy, highlight further the ubiquity of literature, penetrating almost every other field of study. Just as the plays of Arthur Miller can further our understanding of America's post war 'Red Scare,' so can Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment lead us to question the moral values of utilitarianism and our innermost conception of our own identity. Indeed the expression of philosophical concepts within English literature is a topic I would love to explore further at some point during my university study.

I have welcomed the opportunity of sharing this enthusiasm with others during the final year in Sixth Form by helping struggling 12 and 13 year olds at a local comprehensive improve their reading skills. It was a large project, and I made crucial contribution to it by independently developing and finalizing one subsystem, which proved to be a significant success and won me profuse appreciation from users. The relative smooth path of my career notwithstanding, I have not had a chance to lead a major project, although I have always finished my part of every project immaculately.
